Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, recently announced that it will launch an Alibaba Cloud Innovation Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - it is the first international innovation center located outside of China. It is very good for the local startups in Malaysia. Alibaba Cloud also hopes to train 30,000 local professionals in the coming fiscal year in Malaysia to strengthen its local talent development commitment.
The launch of this International Innovation Center is in line with Alibaba Cloud’s long-term commitment to nurture digital talents and contribute to local business development in Asia Pacific. Besides launching the innovation center in Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud will also invest USD 1 billion (RM 4.145bil) in funding and resources within the next three years as part of its Project AsiaForward, which aims to foster one million digital talents, empower 100,000 developers and accelerate the growth of 100,000 tech startups across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
Very recently, Alibaba Cloud became the first cloud provider to secure all three key data protection certifications by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore
the Data Protection Trustmark Certification (DPTM),
the APEC Cross Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) System and
Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) System.
Also in May 2021, it was announced that Alibaba cloud and BMW Startup Garage,China will be opening Joint Innovation Base in Shanghai, China. It will be officially named as “Alibaba Cloud Innovation Center - BMW Startup Garage Joint Innovation Base” and will be located at the Shanghai Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone.
